St Vincent de Paul Village

1994

OUR VILLAGE:
With a naming gift from Paul Mirabile, the PMC opened at the Village on 15th Street, San Diego, offering short-term housing for 350 women and men.

The Village Family Health Center and the Career & Education Center moved from the Joan Kroc Center across the street to new enlarged quarters at the Paul Mirabile Center. The Health Center recorded 4,660 patient visits between October and December 1994, providing primary care, immunizations, prescriptions and dental services. The Village Family Health Center, a license primary care facility, received the Peter F. Drucker Award in 1998 for its innovative program making a difference in the lives of people it served. Today it logs 35,000 medical, dental and psychiatric patient visits annually.

St. Vincent was represented for the first time in San Diego's annual Recovery Games at Mira Mesa College and has participated in the competition ever since.

FATHER JOE:
Father Joe received the Andrus Award for his accomplishments in service to the community from the American Association of Retired Persons.
